This car puts a smile on my face every time I see it. Firstly the exterior looks are great, classic Jaguar lines and quite an imposing stance. Despite it being the cheapest Jag, the little luxury car touches are all there, right now to the clunk of the door handles and the upper-class thud as the door shuts.

The test car was also hard to move in and out of park. The X-Type has a very crisp chassis, with good cornering bite and incredible grip. The ride is great, but Jaguar has missed one thing: impact control. The test car's big wheels really thumped into potholes. The rest of the X-Type package is impressive and refined.
The Jaguar X-type was a concept back in the days that Ford took over. Codenamed X-400, two options were on the table. One was to build the car on a shortened S-type platform, maintaining the traditional Jaguar virtue of rear-wheel-drive. The second was to look elsewhere in the Ford stable for a platform that could also be developed.
Jaguar’s X-Type offers elegant styling, pleasant handling and a smooth ride. However, the car’s cabin falls short when it comes to overall materials quality. The X-Type made its debut with the 2002 model, and its time in the marketplace was relatively brief. It was discontinued after the 2008 model year.
