🪸 Is Noctua Nh D15 Good
I've upgraded from an i7-4790K to the i9-12900K a couple of months ago and have reused the NH-D15. While the previous processor was happily sitting at about 60 degrees at full load, the 12900K is quite a bit hotter, topping out at 90 (idle about 30 while regular workload seems to be around 50-60). I understand fully the 12900K is a power hungry
With the cooler only 1-2 dBA behind the quietest coolers, Noctua does extremely well at 25% and 50% fan speed. This is why Noctua has the reputation it does. Not only does the NH-D15 take the air-cooling crown, it does so while being extremely quiet. Fan Speeds
The Noctua NH-D15 is one of the most powerful air coolers on the market. It can handle high-performance CPUs, and while it's large, it gets the job done. Oh, and it comes in a stunning brown color.
Should I go for the Noctua NH-D15 instead? It's available from a local store close to me, so I could pick it up easily. I've read quite a bit about the Noctua being easier to install and requiring little to no maintenance, while the Arctic Liquid Freezer is a bit more complicated to get in place and runs the risk of leakage and more maintenance.
The NH-D15 chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning flagship model NH-D15 premium-quality quiet CPU cooler. Thanks to the same proven dual-tower heatsink design and NF-A15 PWM fans, it stays true to the NH-D15’s successful formula of rivalling the performance of all-in-one water coolers while maintaining superb quietness of operation.
I use a NH-D15 on my 5950X and it works great. Sustains 4.85Ghz without throttling with PBO motherboard and CO -10 (best cores)/-20 (other cores). YMMV, I have pretty good case ventilation. High-end water would of course offer lower temps and slightly better clocks, but the NH-D15 works fine.
When reviewing the below chart, the NH-D15 has better cooling performance across all comparable noise levels. The peak difference is observed at 34 dBa, with a difference of 8℃. Alternatively, the smallest difference is observed at 41 dBa where we see a difference of 5℃. Compares Noctua NH-U12S Redux to the Noctua using the NH-D15 .
The pattern on a 14900k with a Noctua NH-D15 air cooler. The NH-D15s bottom isn‘t flat. Noctua said me that the 14th gen CPUs are also aren‘t flat like former gens. Though igorsLab says the 14th gens are flat. Keep in mind that everything is manufactured with a certain margin of precision. Applies to the Noctua and CPU headspreader.
Martin778. There is a thing with 360mm AIO's, most of them are noise optimized meaning they have pretty low RPM fans, which isn't ideal for heavy OC and prolonged stress testing. H150i really starts to shine with the fans swapped to Noctua, insteaed of the stock ones.
Yeah, it's a good option. I already have the Noctua NH-D15 though, as the S variant was not available at the store I bought from. It's available at another retailer though, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle to go and get a new one. It seems the NH-D15 will work as well.
NH-D12L with 13600k. Hello! I wanted to ask if anyone have experience with NH-D12L on a 13600k. Based on noctua's guidance, it should be all fine, but mine instantly gets to 100C and cannot cool properly, already remounted the heatsink once, checked the thermal paste pattern, everything seems ok except thermals. 2.
I have an i9-11900K with a Noctua NH-D15 and a ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E motherboard. I'm curious what a good temperature range for this setup is both idle and under load. - When idling in Fan Standard mode (1-5%) My Core temps average ~40-42C. - When I turn the fans to Full Speed and run the CPU-Z benchmark, the motherboard throttles down the 4
The peak difference is observed at 32 dBa, with a difference of 2℃. Alternatively, the smallest difference is observed at 37 dBa where the coolers maintain similar temperatures. Compares Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 to the Noctua using the NH-D15S . Tests are done across different CPU loads and fan speeds and machine learning is used to help
The NH-D15 itself is a creation of beauty and majesty, towering 6.4” above the CPU and covering roughly the footprint of a mini-ITX motherboard. Noctua ships it with enough hardware to fit both
And if not, you only lose 1-2C from running the D15 single fan. Noctua actually released a revision called the NH-D15S, which has a single fan, better clearance for tall RAM and AICs on the first slot, and only 1C less performance.
